Forest Knolls PTA

Welcome to the Forest Knolls Elementary Parent Teacher Association!

Our PTA is an active part of FKES, responsible for bringing countless programs to our students and enriching their elementary school days.

The FKES PTA has established two goals for 2009-2010 — membership and outreach.

  • This year we hope to focus on reaching out to the larger school community and encouraging a sense of volunteerism and involvement with the programs and children of FKES.
  • With higher membership, we aim to increase the clout we have as an organization at the local, state, and national level when advocating for our children.
  • With carefully planned family oriented programming, we hope to infuse every part of FKES with a feeling of community, family, and cooperation.

As we all know, when parents and families are involved, our children benefit.

We hope you take the opportunity to become involved in the FKES PTA and make a difference in the life of your child and the children in your community. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact us… together we can be the change we want to see in our school!

This week’s news…

March  1 through March 5

PTA MEETING TUESDAY, MARCH 2, MEDIA CENTER: COME ONE, COME ALL!

We have another wonderful meeting planned for you, so come out and make use of that membership!

Before the meeting, you can meet our Silent Auction Chair, Alison Petersen who will be selling tickets at a reduced rate for the FKES Silent Auction.

At 7pm, we start the business portion of the PTA meeting. Highlights include: voting on our nominating committee (who will nominate a great slate of officers for your PTA next year); getting a budget update and find out how close we are to meeting our DDC goal (you can still donate to that so please bring a check for Cindy Shay); and getting a peak at our wonderful Green School Award submission!

Then at 7:30pm we will hear from one of FKES’s finest, Ms. Michals! She will present various aspects of her FKES programs and afterwards, we will celebrate her award: “Teacher as Leader in Gifted Education” by the Maryland State Advisory Council on Gifted and Talented Education.

Come honor Ms. Michal! Come purchase your Silent Auction tickets! Come participate in your PTA!

See you there!

DON’T YOU WANT TO SELL WRAPPING PAPER TO YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS?

I sure don’t!  Please make sure to send your Direct Donation in today!  You can access the donation form from the menu on the left… remember your donation is tax deductible and the full value goes towards supporting FKES programs.  In addition, this year we are offering an incentive program — a free Silent Auction ticket!  If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Shay, DDC Campaign Chair.  Thank you in advance for your donation!
