At the October PTA meeting, we presented information on proposed resolutions of The Montgomery County Council of Parent Teacher Associations (MCCPTA — http://www.mccpta.com/) and committed to following up by posting the information here on the FKES website.
Please provide any feedback on these resolutions to mccpta.delegate@fkespta.org prior to the next MCCPTA meeting by October 25, 2011.
The MCCPTA resolutions, all dated September 27, 2011, are as follows:
- Proposed Resolution on Co-Location of County Service at MCPS Schools
- Proposed Resolution on the FY2013 CIP Budget and the FY2013-2018 CIP
- Proposed Resolution in support of Legislation Creating a Teenage Curfew in Montgomery County
- Proposed Resolution on the FY2013 Operating Budget Priorities
- Proposed Resolution on the FY2013 Operating Budget Compact
- Proposed Resolution on MCPS Procedures for the Site Selection Process
Background on MCCPTA: MCCPTA serves 189 local PT(S)As and their over 50,000 — parents, teachers and people in our community who, through advocacy, support the mission of PTA:
- to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental agencies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children
- to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect children
- to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of the nation.
The Forest Knolls MCCPTA Delegate votes on behalf of school at monthly meetings, representing their interests, and also shares any proposed resolutions, and information from meetings about MCCPTA educational programs, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and Board of Education (BOE) forums, and opportunities to testify/ interact with MCPS/BOE/ School Superintendent.
